Hauzer has won the VOM Borghardt Award (innovative surface finishing) for the Superhard and Slick Coating; a coating with many advantages in tribological applications. In auto engines 10-15 percent of the energy is lost due to friction. Thanks to the Superhard and Slick Coating (SSC) friction can be reduced with 50 percent compared to uncoated steel, which means a significant reduction in fuel consumption, so reduced CO₂ emission.

The SSC is developed together with Argonne National Laboratory, Istanbul Technical University and Galleon International in a Hauzer Flexicoat^® R&D machine. To make the coating ready for industrial application, upscaling is done in a Hauzer Flexicoat^® 1200.

The VOM Borghardt Award is a national award for innovative surface finishing. The jury emphasized Hauzer's cooperation in international projects and its significant contribution to environmental friendly coating solutions.
